Sudden Desire

Depression can feel like drowning in an endless ocean—struggling to stay afloat while weighted down by unseen burdens. It is a battle of endurance, where only the strongest learn to navigate the depths. Even in moments of clarity and healing, the fight never fully disappears. This series of photographs captures the ongoing struggle between the mind and the weight of depression—an invisible force that manifests through exhaustion, lack of motivation, and the urge to surrender.

Through photography, this work becomes an act of resilience, a refusal to be overtaken by darkness. By confronting these emotions openly, the project not only serves as a personal exploration but also offers solidarity to those who feel alone in their struggles.

The cyanotype process was intentionally chosen to reinforce the visual and emotional themes of the series. Its deep blue tones evoke both beauty and the sensation of drowning, mirroring the push and pull between struggle and survival. Stepping into portraiture allowed for a deeper connection, capturing raw emotion in a way that strengthens the narrative. This body of work stands as both an expression of vulnerability and a testament to the ongoing fight for hope.
